Spring Field Crickets Well Under Way

Have you been hearing spring field crickets? They are the second species of singing insect to display in our area each year.

This is a female fall field cricket, but that species is indistinguishable physically from its spring field cricket sibling species.

The first spring field crickets I heard were on May 23. This is the fourth latest start date in the six years of my study.
